India’s star cricketers have been home since March when the ODI series against South Africa was called off as the world started taking precautionary measures against the rapidly spreading coronavirus.
It is still not clear when India will resume playing cricket but at least some of the players are beginning to visit each other socially after months of lockdown. Rarely do India’s top cricket players get so much time at home and it was a time they used to relax with family and doing things they normally don’t get the chance to do.
On July 7, the Pandya brothers – Hardik and Krunal – flew down to Ranchi to wish MS Dhoni on his birthday. However, well placed sources confirmed Dhoni did not have a birthday bash because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Kohli, Iyer bond over neer dosa, mushroom biryani
On July 8, Shreyas Iyer posted a picture of him chilling with Virat Kohli and the two apparently shared neer dosa and mushroom biryani.
The two cricketers can be seen wearing face masks as they posed for the photo. Kohli called it ‘new picture norms with social distancing’.
Virat Kohli took to Instagram and said Iyer had brought him some ‘neer dosas’ and thanked the Delhi Capitals star’s mom for sending them the ‘delicious’ meal.
“A kind neighbour who lives 500 m away from us brought us some home made neer dosas and made us smile. A big Thank you to your mom amigo we haven’t had such delicious dosas for a longgg time. Hope you enjoyed the mushroom biriyani we sent back. ?? Good man @shreyas41 . P.S- these are the new picture norms with social distancing,” Kohli wrote.
Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer are waiting like their other colleagues on word from BCCI on the Indian Premier League. While Kohli leads Royal Challengers Bangalore, Iyer is captain of Delhi Capitals.
India last played international cricket in New Zealand and then returned home for the ODI series against South Africa.
However, the first match in Dharamshala was washed out due to rain before BCCI decided to call off the entire series due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
