“It’s a tough question because I feel every generation the players are different. Players face challenges differently in different generations, the pitches, quality of opposition, given the change in the cricket ball. The Kookaboora in my era and your era is completely different maybe because of the leather on the ball has changed.
“But on a humorous note, and I hope nobody feels that this generation is better than the other or the previous generation was weaker than the current one because we unnecessarily get into such debates and for me it has no meaning.
“From the current team I would have loved to have Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the side. I will not pick you (Mayank Agarwal) at the moment because I had Virender Sehwag at the other end. So you’ll have to wait, your my 3rd opener.
“I’ll go for Bumrah because I had Zaheer at the other end. I would also go for Mohammed Shami after Javagal Srinath retired. I had Harbhajan and Anil Kumble in my side so Ashwin would be my third spinner. I would be very tempted to have Ravindra Jadeja also,” Ganguly replied to Mayank’s question.
